Schaffhausen's International Bach Society (IBG) was founded in 1946 on the occasion of the first International Bach Festival and has ever since been inseperably linked to the festival.
Originating from the idea of connecting people from all over Europe under the mantle of Bach's music, the Bach Festival has developed into one of the leading cultural events in our region. Since 1946, over 25 Bach Festivals have been developed and carried out by the Bach Society in conjunction with the City of Schaffhausen. World-renowned artists such Helmuth Rilling, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Jordi Savall, Philippe Herreweghe or Masaaki Suzuki have performed at the festival. Alongside the concerts, the cantata services, conceived and developed by the IBG, constitute one of the festivals key elements.
If you also can identify with the IBG's vision and are interested in becoming a member of our society, we will be happy to welcome you. As a member, you actively support the realisation of the festival's ambitious programmes. Furthermore, you enjoy several priviliges at the festival, including discounted ticket prices and advance booking options. Every other year, when there is nor festival, the society invites members to it's general assembly, which is held in Schaffhausen and is concluded by an exclusive members' concert.
